Our History

Founded in 1946, the company specialises in the manufacture of unique liquorice and associated sugar confectionery products. In 1993 the company saw an opportunity to extend its horizons, and acquired R Crawford(Northern ltd) which is based in Hadfield in Derbyshire.

Maxilin
Under the Maxilin brand we produce a range of liquorice Flyers, with our magic crystal centres. Production takes place in Bolton, Lancashire which is in the north of England. Only the finest ingredients are used, and we still manufacture liquorice by the traditional "batch" method ensuring a product which is deliciously different and unique. The company also exports to a number of countries, with our salmiak liquorice being particularly popular in Scandinavian countries.

Crawfords
Crawford's are a leader in the production of ball lollipops in the UK, and produce a range of high quality lollipops, in a wide range of colours and flavours under the "Posh" brand. Top quality ingredients, and traditional production methods honed over many years ensure that our lollipops are a firm favourite favourite with children and adults alike. Crawford's also produces a range of Vimto lollipops under licence from Vimto Soft Drinks. To complete the range a full assortment of traditional boiled sweets are available, and we also produce a range of square fizzy centred lollipops under the Welch's label. Crawford's products are exported to a number of countries around the world.

Maxilin Crawford Group can accommodate requests for natural colours/natural flavours products, and enquires for own label manufacturing are always welcome. We have Vegetarian Society approval for a number of our products, and we can produce to Kosher standards too.
